David and Amanda Swedler
Husband and wife team, David and Amanda Swedler are bringing a new way for the community to experience Kentucky’s booming craft beer scene, vibrant nightlife, and deep-rooted love of bourbon. David, an Akron, Ohio native, is a bariatric surgeon at CHI St. Joseph’s Health in Lexington, while Amanda, who hails from Seattle, has a background working in the emergency room and as a bartender. Now proud Lexington residents, they are blending their expertise and passion for hospitality to make Tapster a standout community hub.
Their decision to bring Tapster to Lexington was fueled by their love for the city and its dynamic social scene. Recognizing a business opportunity in Lexington’s busy nightlife, where packed bars often mean long waits, the Swedlers reached out to Tapster Founder & CEO Roman Maliszewski to bring the self-pour concept to life in their new community. With Tapster, they aim to give guests the freedom to sample a wide range of drinks at their own pace, fostering a laid-back atmosphere where friends can gather without the hassle of waiting for a drink.
